Diagnosis, specifications and site reports
Rising Damp for Architects & Engineers
Clear Information You Can Specify From
Rising damp falls between disciplines. It is not quite structural and not quite waterproofing, so it often ends up as a single line in a scope that says “treat rising damp” with no detail. That is how the wrong treatment gets installed and the problem comes back.
I work with architects, engineers and building consultants to give them what they need to specify the work properly.
That means diagnosis on site, the treatment method and materials, and the sequence of works for the trades that follow.
What I Can Provide
Site inspection with moisture readings and photo or video records. A written diagnosis that separates rising damp from other moisture sources such as leaks, condensation and raised ground levels. Treatment specifications and method statements for DPC injection with Silonexx and salt resistant rendering. Product information for your files. Input into heritage applications where the building is listed.
I can also review an existing specification or a consultant’s report before it goes to tender and point out where the scope is likely to fail on site. Fixing a specification is a lot cheaper than fixing a finished wall. For background, see rising damp explained and the best treatment for rising damp.
Typical projects:
- Heritage restoration and adaptive reuse
- Renovations of older brick and stone buildings
- Strata remedial works
- Defect investigations
- Schools, churches and public buildings
- Residential alterations and additions
Send through the drawings, the address and what you need, and I will tell you what I can provide and when.
